My dog has a dark past

Scooter just got home from the vet. He had been limping for over two weeks, so that’s why we took him.

My dog is currently very, very sedated. We learned that he has an injured tricep, but also that a BB pellet has been in his shoulder for over a year! What sick person would shoot this?!

Scooter has a pretty dark backstory that no-one really knows anything about.

Scooter came to Colorado from Joplin, Missouri. We got him last summer from a foster family. The entire thing was coordinated through Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. My family had to go through a big process to prove that we were good dog owners. We had to submit pictures of our house and yard, fill out lots of forms, etc. It was totally worth it, as Scooter is a really good dog. However, he’s survived a tornado, being shot, and an inflamed tricep! Wow.

Deck, Dog

I just had the most panicky 5 minutes of my life.

I was letting my dog Scooter into the yard, and the moment I opened the door he sprinted towards my deck. He started rooting around and poking his nose under the wood. Then, he climbed under the deck. This was really odd behavior, so I called him. It’s really narrow under there, so I was afraid he had gotten stuck, not to mention the risk of him getting hurt by nails or sharp rocks. I called him, and he didn’t come. My dog is well-trained, so I started to freak out.

Turns out, that idiot had wedged himself between the deck and the ground. Fortunately, a lot of squirming on his part freed him. Phew!
